Monai stands out with its circadian lighting technology, which keeps users awake during the day and helps them fall asleep in the evening. This innovative feature is what sets Monai apart from other lighting tables, making it a unique addition to any home or workspace.
The design of Monai is rooted in the natural world. Its shape, inspired by rounded objects found in nature, is pleasing to the eye and makes information easier to process. The table is made of high-quality materials, including plywood covered with oak veneer, solid oak for the foldable legs, and a top covered with tempered glass evenly illuminating film. The table measures 530 mm x 530 mm x 580 mm, making it a compact and practical piece of furniture.
Monai is easily manageable with a remote control, pre-set with a recommended light rhythm of the day but can also be manually controlled. Its foldable legs are light and easy to fold, making it a versatile piece that can be moved and stored with ease. The table was designed and produced in Vilnius, Lithuania, from November 2014 to April 2016, and was exhibited in the National Good Design exhibition in May 2016.
The design process of Monai involved careful stylistic research based on the analysis of basic geometric forms. The rounded corners are not only aesthetically pleasing but also make information easier to process. The choice of materials and dimensions were carefully calculated to ensure comfortable usage in a regular home space. The biggest challenge was the fabrication and assembly of the round base, which is quite a challenge if it's not mass-produced.
Monai is a testament to the power of design in improving daily life. It has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Golden A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
